Visiting Malpeque Bay

Beaches, oysters, and one of the Island's most treasured coastlines

Malpeque Bay is a place of red-sand shores, quiet coves, and working wharves. The bay is a sheltered coastal lagoon protected by a 25-kilometre sandspit and recognized as a Wetland of International Importance, a home for the Piping Plover and countless seabirds.

Visitors come for Cabot Beach Provincial Park with its beaches and campground, for kayaking and paddling the calm waters of the bay, and above all for the world-famous Malpeque oysters harvested here. In summer, the historic St. Mary's Church in Indian River hosts a beloved concert series known for its remarkable acoustics.

Across the seven communities you will find farm stands, walking and cycling routes, and the everyday rhythm of a working rural coast. Come for the tides, the oysters, and the welcome.
